The virus primarily spreads through respiratory droplets when an infected person talks, coughs, or sneezes. It can also spread by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching one’s mouth, nose, or eyes.

When a person breathes, talks, coughs or sneezes, droplets are produced and released into the air. these droplets can be inhaled by people nearby, or land on surfaces and hands, where they can remain active for several hours. The virus can then be transmitted to other people through touching a contaminated surface or object and then touching the mouth, nose, or eyes.
